Established to empower women and shape the future of nursery education.

Sowmya Nursery Teacher Training Institute and Counselling was established in 2016 in Gunjur, Bangalore, with a straightforward conviction: that the people who teach our youngest children deserve serious, structured training - and that such training should be within reach of any woman who wants it.

Since then we have completed more than ten batches of our teacher training programme. Our students have gone on to teach in preschools and play schools across Bangalore and beyond; some have opened centres of their own. Alongside teacher training, SNTTI offers professional counselling and career guidance, because we have found over the years that the people who walk through our door often need more than a syllabus.

We remain a small institute by choice. Small enough that Ms. Sowmya knows every student by name, and every student gets answered.

From Our Founder

I did not set out to build an institute. I set out to solve a problem I kept running into.

Every time I met a young woman who wanted to teach, I met the same obstacles - no proper training within reach, no one to guide her, and very often, no one at home who believed the effort was worth it. Meanwhile, our preschools were filling up with children whose most formative years were being handled by people who had never been taught how.

So SNTTI began in Gunjur, with a small batch and a large amount of stubbornness.

Ten batches later, I still teach every batch myself. I am a mother of three daughters and the wife of a politician, and I have learned that the confidence a woman builds in this classroom rarely stays in this classroom - it goes home with her.
